After having a piece of custom glass installed in your shower door's frame, increase your privacy and enhance your bathroom's surroundings with decorative film. The following tips will teach you how to quickly and accurately add the film to the piece of glass.
Use The Following Materials
- glass cleaner
- lint free cloth
- compressed air
- privacy film
- measuring tape
- spray bottle
- mild detergent
- utility knife
Clean The Glass And Cut The Film
Decide which portion of the glass door to cover. You can still enjoy the beauty of the glass by leaving the top and bottom of the door uncovered. A piece of film in the middle of the glass will provide you with the privacy needed. Measure the width and length of the section that you are going to be covering. Cut out a piece of film that is the same size. Clean the glass door with glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Once finished, spray compressed air on the glass surface to remove any residue that remains.
Add The Film
Fill up a spray bottle with equal amounts of mild detergent and water. Spray the surface of the shower door with the soapy water so that it is evenly coated. Peel the paper backing off from the piece of film. Attach the film to the glass, beginning with the corner of the piece. Press the film down against the glass as it is added so that wrinkles do not appear.
Once the film is attached, spray the surface of it with the soapy water and use a squeegee to assist with flattening the film. Move the squeegee over the film in straight lines. After the film is level with the shower door's surface, wait for it to dry.
Protect The Film And The Glass
The film will remain damage-free as long as you clean it with a mild cleaning agent and soft cloth. Avoid using scrub brushes or scouring pads because they may leave marks in the film or glass. If you decide to replace the piece of film that is on your door or if you decide to do away with it altogether, moisten the surface of the film with water and a sponge. Gently peel the film off. Clean the glass door with glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Continuing to care for the glass the proper way will lengthen its life and keep it looking great.
